John in Living Color

John in Living Color PDF Author: Marty A. Cauley
Publisher: Misthological Press
ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 48
Book Description
“John in Living Color” is a reference manual that may be used in conjunction with the author’s other writings. “Believe: An Aspectual and Metaphorical Analysis of the Gospel of John” is the primary text intended to be consulted for defense of the aspectual and metaphorical coding implemented within the manual. The specialist will wish to consult both texts in conjunction with one another. The full text of the Gospel of John is provided. All occurrences of believe have been marked aspectually, as have all metaphors and synonyms for believe. This reference manual may also be used as a workbook for those wishing to teach through the Gospel of John or study it privately for themselves. The aspectual symbols used in the manual have been introduced in the author’s other writings so that even laity who have read such introductory texts may readily grasp the main thrust of the aspectual and metaphorical significance. For those not acquainted with the author’s other writings, the notes provided in the back of the manual will suffice to provide sufficient means to approach this manual as a standalone introduction to the Gospel of John for themselves. This workbook would be ideally suited for an inductive study of the Gospel of John, whether at the individual or small group level.

Doing Therapy with Intercultural Couples

Doing Therapy with Intercultural Couples PDF Author: Sunita Noronha
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 172527115X
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 226
Book Description
Marital concord between couples from different racial and ethnic backgrounds is an issue that needs serious attention to bridge the vast chasms. America welcomes people from all over the world. People of all religions and ethnic backgrounds come here to study and migrants arrive here to work. Interracial marriages are common but the radically different background of each couple can create discords and prove to be bumps on the highway of conjugal life. This can have serious repercussions on the offspring and on the couple and their lives as well. This book seeks to investigate how cultural realities can be addressed within intercultural premarital couples counseling. Using a cultural focus approach couples' stories around their particular culture and relationship were analyzed. Themes related to relationship, family and social ties, and parenting bi-cultural and bi-racial children were examined. Issues of religious and social influence, money, race, ethnicity, extended family, immigration, and biases in family of origin, are explored as are roles and responsibilities, communication, respect, trust, and gender-stereotyping. The book adopts a pastoral theological approach in working towards a deeper understanding of premarital relationships of partners who represent cultural difference and diversity. In conclusion recommendations to therapists and care givers for counseling intercultural couples are made.
