Book Description
Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the Left Behind series are but the latest manifestations of American teenagers' longstanding fascination with the supernatural and the paranormal. In this groundbreaking book, Lynn Schofield Clark explores the implications of this fascination for contemporary religious and spiritual practices. Relying on stories gleaned from more than 250 in-depth interviews with teens and their families, Clark seeks to discover what today's teens really believe and why. She finds that as adherence to formal religious bodies declines, interest in alternative spiritualities as well as belief in "superstition" grow accordingly. Ironically, she argues, fundamentalist Christian alarmism about the forces of evil has also fed belief in a wider array of supernatural entities. Resisting the claim that the media "brainwash" teens, Clark argues that today's popular stories of demons, hell, and the afterlife actually have their roots in the U.S.'s religious heritage. She considers why some young people are nervous about supernatural stories in the media, while others comfortably and often unselfconsciously blur the boundaries between those stories of the realm beyond that belong to traditional religion and those offered by the entertainment media. At a time of increased religious pluralism and declining participation in formal religious institutions, Clark says, we must completely reexamine what young people mean--and what they may believe--when they identify themselves as "spiritual" or "religious." Offering provocative insights into how the entertainment media shape contemporary religious ideas and practices, From Angels to Aliens paints a surprising--and perhaps alarming--portrait of the spiritual state of America's youth.

Angels or Aliens?

Angels or Aliens? PDF Author: James Brouillette
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN: 1645698874
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 222
Book Description
Join the journey and examine the mysterious physical remains present on earth that are being used to mount a new attack against Christianity. The reason for these ancient remains' existence here on this planet is explained using scripture. Angels or Aliens? explores giants, flying vehicles, and angels as they are discussed and explained in the Bible and how they relate to the coming assault against Christians everywhere by this new theological lie. This new false doctrine is explored, which is now being prepared and developed in order to replace the Theory of Evolution as the Godless answer to mankind's origin. This unique look at the modern world, from a biblical point of view, provides a positive Christian vision and reinforces the fact that God is in control and through Christ the victory is ours. In addition, through the process the reader is exposed to some possible end-time scenarios that they may not have previously imagined. After studying the media and the communication in which it engages, Brouillette has identified a systematic indoctrination that has taken place over the last sixty years, in the area of the existence of life on other planets, and Angels or Aliens? exposes this newest attack against the Christian belief that our world was created by God. Using scripture, this new humanist attack is debunked, and the relationship this new theory might have with end-times prophecy is exposed.

Book Description
A UNIQUE UFO/ALIEN, ANGEL AND PROPHECY DOCUMENT In Angels, Aliens and Prophecy II, earth mysteries researcher and internationally-renowned psychic medium Betsey Lewis continues her investigation into ancient aliens. Our ancestors drew ancient astronauts on caves and rocks worldwide. Vedic literature thousands of years old tell of “flying chariots,” and recent discoveries of green glass discovered in deserts worldwide reveal atomic warfare was used eons ago. The Pauite Indians have a legend of a strange race of beings called the Hav-musuvs who built a marble city beneath the Mojave and Death Valley Desert of Southern California and used flying ships and strange laser-like weapons. Could these stories account for the strange aerial phenomena seen in these deserts before the airplane? Could these beings still occupy underground cities near U.S. military bases? The Mojave Desert holds many secrets including the discovery of caves with nine-foot skeletons and advanced weaponry found in the 1940s. Who are these beings who walk through walls, control time and space, and disarm missile silos? Is there evidence they have an agenda for Earth and humanity? Discover how these other-worldly beings may have disguised themselves to look like angels throughout recorded history. Learn about the angel-alien agenda for Earth and humanity. Other topics covered in Angels, Aliens and Prophecy II include: crop circles, chemtrails, time travel, prime events, time shifts, time warps, alien abductions, cattle mutilation phenomena, alien-human hybrids, and prophecy. This book contains the story of one of the strangest UFO/alien abduction cases ever investigated involving a young couple who witnessed nine glowing objects over an empty stretch of the Mojave Desert the night of October 21, 1989. Held hostage for 24 hours by hundreds of non-human entities, what should have been a quiet camping trip turned into an unearthly nightmare of unimaginable terror. A must-read for fans of the inexplicable and ancient mysteries.
